About this site

Structured Settlement Compare is made by Joseph Ellul. It exists because the single most important fact about selling structured settlement payments - that a court has to approve it first, and has to find the sale is in your best interest - is buried in a state statute nobody reads, while the pages that rank for the question are written by the people buying. The record collects those sentences, reproduced exactly, each with its address and the day it was examined.

Why this site exists

The honest answer to most questions here is procedural and dull: a court has to approve it, and here is what the court has to find. Dull does not rank, so what fills the results instead is a buyer's landing page. Putting the statute's sentence on the screen, with its address and the day it was examined, is the thing nobody else in this market is doing.

Who it is for

Someone receiving structured settlement payments who is thinking about selling some of them and wants to know what actually has to happen.

Someone comparing two states, who needs the same question answered by both statutes, side by side, in each one's own words.

A lawyer or a judge who needs the citation rather than the summary, and wants to check it against the section before relying on it.

What it does not do

  • It never states a discount rate, fee or figure that the page it cites does not carry.
  • It never renders an empty cell. Where a statute is silent on a question, the page says so and names the section that was read.
  • It never recommends selling, and it never tells a reader their transfer will be approved. That is a judge's finding on facts this site does not know.
  • It takes no share of any discount or fee. A buyer pays a flat fee for an enquiry and nothing else, and no buyer can buy a placement.

What is on this site

1 guides, each with its sources on the page , 24 answers to the questions around them , and the comparison.

  • Get quotes on a structured settlement: A quote on a structured settlement is a discount calculation and a court application bundled together, and most of what people call a quote is only the first half.

Where the figures come from

Primary guidance published by each taxing authority, and the state constitution where the tax is barred by one, each page read through the estate fetch box on 2026-09-11 and its reduction committed under research/data/structured-settlement-guidance/

Who answers for it

Joseph Ellul, Publisher; responsible for which pages are read, which sentence answers which question, and for correcting anything on this site that misquotes a source.
